Doug Melanson Park

The Doug Melanson Park is a new Yarmouth park to be constructed on the former Milton School site, bordered by Elm, Brunswick, and Huntington Streets. The park has been named to honour the long time custodian Doug Melanson.

The park is a joint project with the Town of Yarmouth and the Milton Improvement Society representing the community. The project requires work to completed over approximately 3 years, with the hard surfaces to be constructed by the Town in the first year at a cost of $50,000. The soft landscaping will be completed by the community in the following years at an equal cost.

Construction is planned to commence in the fall of 2017.

A pathway system will traverse the park allowing public access on 3 sides. The park incorporates space for benches, games tables, balance beams, interpretive signage and 3 play  mounds. The park is designed as low maintenance with ground cover, trees and shrubs to define the spaces. A stone park entrance, sign and small flower bed is planned on Brunswick Street; an area for a labyrinth and public forum area will be added to the park.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 for the above items. We encourage you to donate through the newly formed "Community Assets Donation Program" of the Town of Yarmouth. Any donation of $25 or more will be issued with a tax receipt. Information on the Community Assets Donation Program is available on the Town Web Site.
